OUR DRIVER’S MEDICAL (The SGI Medical Standards)

We understand how tight your time is between working and getting other priorities done. Your doctor might be busy attending to people seeking medical attention and you can’t book for an SGI Medical. We have the facility that is right for you.

All commercial driver’s licence classes – Class 1, 2, 3 or 4 or endorsements 1, 2, 3, 4, G or S – require submission of Commercial Driver’s License Medical Report form prior to booking the written and road tests.

Once you have a commercial licence, you must provide periodic medical reports to maintain your commercial driving privileges. This is a requirement under the National Safety Code Program and applies across Canada and the United States as a requirement for Canadian drivers to operate vehicles across Canada and in the United States.

Medical reports are requested every:

  • 5 years for drivers 18 to 45 years of age
  • 3 years for drivers 46 to 65 years of age
  • 1 year for drivers 66 years of age or older

How we report your results

All medical information is treated as confidential as per The Health Information Protection Act. Medical report is transmitted directly to SGI-Medical Review Unit through the secured fax number. A copy of the report is also provided to the client.
